Fees and feature considerations
- Trading commissions and transaction-fee fund lists
- Account, transfer, inactivity, and service fees
- Cash-sweep terms and interest treatment
- Fund minimums, class eligibility, and redemption fees
- Optional subscription or advice fees
Order review and safety controls
A useful order preview should show the full security name, symbol, quantity or amount, order type, estimated cost, and relevant fees. Clear warnings for thinly traded securities, complex products, and stale prices can matter more than a long feature list.
Service, access, and support
Consider support hours, accessibility, account security, transfer processes, statement quality, tax documents, and how the firm handles disputes. Verify that the firm and relevant professionals are properly registered using regulator tools.
